Mental Theo

Mental Theo is a beloved Dutch DJ, producer, and television personality. Since the early ‘90s, he formed one half of the successful duo Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo, scoring multiple hits including “Wonderful Days,” “Stars,” and “Your Smile.” They were key figures in the Dutch Happy Hardcore and gabber scene and performed all over the world. By the late ‘90s, the duo was even crowned DJ of the Year in Germany.

Outside the DJ booth, many know Mental Theo from Dutch television. As the host of shows like “Mental Theo on The Road” on TMF, he dove into nightlife every week to deliver wild, unforgettable content.

Despite his presence on screen, music remained Theo’s core focus. He released numerous solo tracks and collaborated with a range of artists and organizations. He also played a role in launching the iconic and very first hardcore event: Thunderdome.

In 2019, he sold out the Ziggo Dome twice with “25 Years of Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo.” This was followed by a massive summer tour and another sold-out show at Klokgebouw in 2020. Soon after, they announced “The Final Show”, which once again packed out the Ziggo Dome in 2022.

Today, Mental Theo performs solo, spinning high-energy Freestyle sets laced with powerful ‘90s influences. Still considered one of the most popular artists in the Netherlands, he continues to reinvent his show each week—always keeping the crowd on its toes.
